$400m Sunshine Coast water park gets the go-ahead

A $400 million 'active lifestyle destination' has been given development approval (DA) by the Sunshine Coast Council. SANAD Capital purchased a 25-hectare plot on Steve Irwin Way in January 2016 for the development.

Natureworks was engaged to design, manufacture and install heavy-duty sea creature sculptures at the Broadwater Parklands water playground. The characters had to be extremely durable, resistant to full sun exposure and meet the Australian Standards for playground installation, including height restrictions, anti-slip finish and entrapment avoidance.

Almost all food options sold at swimming pool kiosks are nutritionally poor, research from Deakin University has shown. A survey of Melbourne's four largest aquatic centres found that 92% of what children consumed from the on-site kiosks was classified in the most unhealthy range.
