Daisy Day aims to make pool owners proactive

Pool covers specialist Daisy has announced the kick-off of 'Daisy Day', a once-a-month off-season initiative aimed at making pool owners more proactive about maintenance and upkeep.

The company is encouraging consumers to set aside some time on the first Saturday in May, June, July and August to remove their pool covers and take a water sample in for testing. Hoping to alleviate factors that contribute to equipment and pool surface deterioration, Daisy said that pool owners may not be aware of the benefit of simple preventive measures taken over the winter months.

While the company doesn't stand to benefit directly from Daisy Day, it hopes that in helping pool owners maintain their pools more effectively, the upshot will be more people enjoying their pools more often and with fewer headaches — a bonus for the whole industry.

As a market leader in the pool cover sector, Daisy said it has a responsibility to educate industry and the wider community on what its products will and won't do, particularly when it comes to misconceptions around the adverse effects of pool covers on water balance or surface finish. According to the company, independent verification of surface finish and equipment failures shows that the water balance of the pool is often the contributing factor. By encouraging participation in Daisy Day, the hope is that chemistry issues are identified and rectified early, minimising any ensuing damage.
