Climate Care certification for Defender filter

Neptune Benson Australia’s Defender Ultra Fine Filter has been certified under the SPASA Climate Care program.

The Defender filter media reduces the amount of backwash water associated with sand filter operation by around 90%. Instead of backwashing, the filter is programmed to automatically ‘bump’ and regenerate the fine-grade perlite media for a fresh start. Eventually the filter becomes saturated with trapped dirt, requiring a simple media discharge and replacement. Depending on the bather load, the media life cycle average is around four weeks.

The energy savings achieved through lower head pressure and backwash elimination and the smaller design and installation footprint make the Defender a suitable candidate for Climate Care certification, an initiative designed to improve efficiency and sustainability in the swimming pool industry.
