Pool shop wins Small Business Champion Award

A family-owned pool shop has won the Specialised Retail Business Award at the Australian Small Business Champion Awards. Andy & Sons, a family business from the Sydney suburb of Canterbury, beat 12 other finalists in the category to take home the award.

As there is no pool/spa business category in the awards, Andy & Sons was up against a diverse range of businesses, including a tennis centre, electrical retailer, comic shop and travel accessories store.

“Like all small businesses, we work so hard all year. It’s really rewarding to be honoured with an award such as this,” said Andy & Sons proprietor Karri Nadazdy.

“This is a really big year for Andy & Sons, and winning this award really is a wonderful surprise.”

The business, which was established in 1972 by Nadazdy’s father, celebrates its 45th birthday this year. Along with a large showroom-style store in Canterbury, the business has a team of service technicians servicing the inner-west region of Sydney. Nadazdy and Virtue have run the business since 2005.
