Pearl 04

Built in the Kingston Foreshore in the ACT, this spectacular pool was completed as a part of an apartment block development. Pool + Spa spoke to John-Paul Williams from Mediterranean Pools in the ACT about their latest award-winning project.

The swimming pool was a complementing feature to be provided to the residents who purchased a new unit. The apartment block in which the pool was built was marketed as high-end luxury development.

The planning was a few years in the making, as the site was a large high-end apartment development. The pool was completed in sync with the units and landscaping package, as such the pool was not started or finished in a residential time frame.

What did you need to take into consideration when planning this pool?

When planning this pool our biggest challenge was how to design a pool that needed to be both functional and aesthetically fitting. Another challenge was its location. It was being built directly adjacent to gym facilities for the residents only, so this also needed consideration.

When building this pool, what were the biggest challenges you faced?

Creating a commercially functioning pool that still looked luxurious and fitted with the surrounds was challenging. To address this we decided on a fully tiled pool with mosaic tiles and a spa. Although the layout was more typical of a high-end residential pool, it’s capable of a significantly higher performance.

Specifications:

  • The pool and spa are fully tiled in mosaic tiles.
  • It has PCC2000 infloor cleaning.
  • Gas heating to both pool and spa.
  • Solar heating to pool and spa.
  • Quartzon beach style entry to the shallow end.
  • Automated chemical dosing system.

What makes this pool stand out from the rest?

The quality of the finish and attention to detail is why this pool is so outstanding. We wanted to create a pool with residential detail that performed to commercial standards. Recently we were awarded gold in the category of Commercial Pools or Spas over $250K in the SPASA NSW Awards.
