This week is Road Safety Week
According to SWA, workers compensation claims caused by work-related vehicle incidents generally lead to more time off work when compared to most other workplace claims. Alarmingly, vehicle crashes account for approximately 38% of all worker fatalities.
Showing support for RSW can help business owners fulfil responsibility for staff safety, reduce crashes involving company drivers and vehicles, and contribute to safer roads. It’s also a useful springboard to launch a year-round road safety program and reinforce a safe driving culture among employees.
While it’s probably a little late to get on board for this year’s event, road safety should be a constant priority for any employer or manager with people on the move. RSW is a global initiative and the website has a ton of useful information for businesses, including how to develop road risk policy, communicate this effectively to staff and ensure its being followed.
