SPASA Qld to vote on SPASA Australia merger
SPASA Queensland has called a special general meeting at which its members will vote on winding up SPASA Queensland, transferring surplus assets to SPASA Australia and operating as SPASA Australia Queensland region. The meeting is scheduled for 5.30 pm on 23 November.
The Governing Council and Management Committee have recommended that the following motions be passed as special resolutions:
- That the Association be wound up pursuant to section 89 of the Associations Incorporation Act 1981 (Qld).
- That, upon the winding up of the Association, surplus assets be transferred to SPASA Australia in accordance with Association Rule 32 and Section 92(3) of the Associations Incorporation Act 1981 (Qld).
In 2014, SPASA Queensland voted to transition into SPASA Australia and to de-incorporate by 1 January 2017. If the merger goes ahead, SPASA Queensland members will be offered membership to SPASA Australia effective from January 2017.
