Mandating ‘Smart Appliance’ Interfaces for Air Conditioners,
Water Heaters and other Appliances
Attention: All supplier / manufacturer stakeholders, particularly those who manufacture, import and supply swimming pool pumps and heating equipment.
The Australian Government, on behalf of the Select Council on Climate Change, is pleased to announce the public release of the consultation regulation impact statement, Mandating ‘Smart Appliance’ Interfaces for Air Conditioners, Water Heaters and other Appliances. This proposal is part of the Equipment Energy Efficiency (E3) Program, which is an important element of Australia's energy efficiency strategy agreed by Australian, state and territory governments.
Individuals and organisations with an interest in the regulation of ‘smart appliance’ interfaces for electricity demand management are encouraged to make submissions in response to the consultation no later than Friday 3 May 2013.
To assist firms and individuals as they finalise their submissions, public consultation meetings will be held in the following cities between 3 April and 9 April 2013:
Wednesday 3 April – Sydney
Thursday 4 April – Brisbane
Friday 5 April – Melbourne
Monday 8 April – Perth
Tuesday 9 April – Adelaide
Register your interest in attending a firstname.lastname@example.org (by midday Tuesday 2 April) noting the number of attendees and the location of the meeting you wish to attend.

Submissions should state ‘Mandating Smart Appliance Interfaces’ in the subject heading and should be emailed to email@example.com.
