The NSW Government has missed many opportunities to meaningfully impact pool and spa safety in its response to the Lambert Report, SPASA NSW/ACT says.

The industry association issued a 25-page response to the government’s response, breaking down each of the recommendations made in the Lambert Report and the government’s response to these recommendations.

SPASA says it supports a number of the government’s positions on recommendations, but disagrees on a good many others. “Notwithstanding, our combined objectives around safety can only be realised by continuing to invest in appropriate participation, consultation, policy reforms and education,” the association said.

“In this regard, SPASA remains committed to working with government to ensure that any water safety reforms and initiatives have the best chance at minimising the potential for accidents to occur.”
