21st Kreepy Krauly convention

Friday, 31 August, 2012

Kreepy Krauly held its 21st convention in May/June for approximately 80 delegates - pool builders, shops and service technicians from all around Australia - who were flown to Amsterdam and then on to Dublin for 11 days.

The first stop was the world-renowned party city of Amsterdam, where delegates were treated to unusually beautiful Dutch weather. After checking in, they headed straight for the welcome cocktail party, where old friends were reunited and many new friendships were made.

While in Amsterdam, they enjoyed a city tour of Amsterdam on a canal boat, viewing the interesting architecture and sights. The tour concluded with a visit to the Heineken Brewery to learn about the history of Heineken and the art of beer making. A few of the delegates, though, were more interested in rushing through the tour to sample the free freshly brewed Heineken.

Then it was on to Dublin, where the delegates stayed at the magnificent Shelbourne Hotel with all its grandeur and history, including the room in which the Irish constitution was written. Most agreed this was the best hotel they had ever stayed in. On the first evening all delegates were treated to life as a Dubliner, with an Irish-style party at the world-famous O'Donoghue's Pub. Accompanied by an Irish band laid on just for the delegates and Guinness beer running freely, this proved to be one of the trip's highlights, with sing-alongs and Irish dancing.

The next day, a city tour was arranged by Autopool, with an introduction to Irish history and Irish humour, finishing with a tour of the exclusive Trinity College. Afterwards, it was decided a meeting at the Guinness Brewery and Jameson distillery was in order. No doubt all the issues relating to the pool industry were solved there.

During the convention, a workshop was held covering a range of Autopool products and services, which included the official release of the new Gen 2 Salt Water chlorinator. However, the highlight was the announcement of the 22nd convention - a two-part convention in 2014. The first stage will involve travelling to Honolulu and returning to Australia; alternatively, delegates can continue on to stage two for the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas.

The convention ended with a farewell cocktail party, where everybody shared their stories about the trip and vowed to meet again in two years in Honolulu.
